Sonoran Dogs and Wine Tasting

With relatives visiting and no time off we decide to take long weekend around New Year visiting SouthEast Arizona that just extends into the first day of the New Year. And because we were not able to get a Sonoran hot dog in Phoenix we stop to get one in Tucson along the way so our relatives can test this local specialty.

However the main attraction today is wine tasting at Callaghan’s winery. As it is closing relatively early at 4PM we drive directly to it afterwards and we make it with enough time left to have our tasting without being hurried.

The tasting room is positively cosy and this winery has an interesting way of serving the wines to be tasted, in plastic cups. There are quite a few benefits as we can try them in any order we want, share them and simply don’t have to wait for the next sample.

We take our time sampling the wines and enjoying the ambiance. We especially enjoy the dessert wines, what can we say, we really like the sweeter wines. And then it is time to leave, a bit wobbly, towards the last attraction of the day, Empire Ranch.
