Arriving in Paphos and exploring the promenade

After soooo many attractions and stops we are quite tired as we make our way to the hotel. There are a few challenges getting it, the parking is gated for example and we have to convince a disembodied voice to let us in and then it is also quite far away from the hotel proper to carry all our luggage. And then the hotel is huge too – we feel like we ran a marathon with 30 pounds of luggage by the time we enter the room.

We then exit the hotel towards the promenade, we really want to see it before it gets too dark. Somehow we find the right path through the hotel grounds that are quite extensive and then it is time to explore.

The promenade itself is quite wide and very popular, one of the few places in Cyprus where we saw boatloads of tourists. Of course the lack of tourists in most sites is more related to the outside of the peak season visit but here it feels like peak season.

As we walk on the promenade we take our time to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the water. It is a beautiful view with the castle and the archaeological park that we plan to visit tomorrow highlighted by the falling sun.

Then it is time to return back to the hotel and to enjoy our small, barely there, balcony. At least the windows open and we can enjoy the air and the sounds of the tens of wood pigeons who seem to roost here for the night.

Given that tomorrow we are leaving the hotel we decide to go for one more exploration of the grounds. The hotel has tennis courts, at least three pools and quite a few individual lodging buildings, quite interesting and we are a bit sad that we won’t have time to use all the facilities. But then it is time to retire for the day and go to sleep after the very busy day as tomorrow it is time to start another leg of our journey in another country.
