Portland is always talked about as one of the most beautiful cities in the USA and a city almost custom made for nature lovers. As such we were always interested in visiting it and finally made it for a week during which we both worked remotely for a few days and explored the city during the reminder of the days. As it was off-season we were lucky that rain was relatively rare and the temperature was reasonable but still it was a marked difference versus Phoenix.

Click on the Links below or Markers on the map above to go directly to a specific part of our trip and follow our one week exploration of Portland.

  • Accomodation in East Portland and Area
We spend the first few days in East Portland mostly working so we chose a house with a work area that is located near multiple restaurants and is in a walkable area
  • Half day in Mount Tabor Park
The first half of our first full free day in Portland is spent in Mt Tabor, a large park in East Portland, to find wildlife and caches as well as enjoy the views
  • Ending the day in Lan Su Garden and downtown
We spend the afternoon and evening in Lan Su Chinese Gardens and downtown area exploring a few stores and malls
  • Short hike on the Wildwood Trail
In the afternoon after moving to the west side we take a short hike on the Wildwood Trail to explore the rainforest and hopefully see some birds
  • Half day in Portland Arboretum
We start the morning with a visit to the Arboretum to see both plants and hopefully some birds
  • Afternoon at the Art Museum
We end the day with a visit to the Art Museum, a relatively large and interesting museum spread across two buildings
  • West Portland accomodation and Area
The last few days of our Portland trip are spent on the west side as we wanted to explore both sides of Portland
