Next we have a longer drive ahead of us returning almost halfway to the airport (which is about 1/2hr) to visit the Kauai Coffee estate. We are surprised at the large parking lot especially as it is quite full. Almost immediately we also see coffee trees everywhere, the beans here are still green and not yet ready to be picked.
What we like about this plantation is that it has a self guided tour, while not long it is great to walk amongst the coffee trees and see how coffee beans are harvested and prepared.
There are also exhibits related to the machinery used to harvest coffee, the harvester especially looks scary if you think about it following you on a moonless night. After seeing all this coffee in different stages it is time for us to buy some souvenirs so we buy an iced coffee of a local blend which is great and also some coffee to prepare at home.
