Between Dobrogea and Turkey we have only one day and we have to do our Covid test for US entry beforehand. It is quite a stressful day so we relax the evening prior by exploring the downtown area a bit and walking around. It is much more quiet than usual but still there are people out and most are not masked, which makes sense outdoor.

We do the test early in the morning and while waiting for the results explore nearby stores and neighborhoods. Unfortunately many stores are closed or are not yet open this early in the morning so we pivot on going to the cemetery to pay our respect to dead relatives.

Besides visiting the graves of our relatives today we decide to also visit some of the more famous or at least outstanding mausoleums, there is an area where most nobility and kings were entombed.

It has quite a few impressive mausoleums on par to what we have seen in France and other famous cemeteries. But then it is time to return to pack, our test results have luckily returned as negative so we are ready to go later in the day. But not before requesting a visa for Turkey that creates another mess with multiple credit cards not working until finally one does, phew.

On the way to the airport we see one of the common in the US gatherings, repeated in Romania. It is to protest the masking mandate, it sometimes boggles the mind to see people protesting measures that save lives.

At the airport we spend some time exploring a small museum exhibit with some nice paintings before our plane is ready to leave. And now we are ready for our adventure in Turkey, two days there, only, to ensure our covid certificate is stlll valid when entering US.
