Sebes Fortified Church

With our relatives awake we leave the Municipal Museum described here and make our way back to the hotel to pick them up. On the way however to our surprise we meet them on the street, they couldn’t wait and decided to look for us and the church. So now together we start searching for the entrance to the church finding some really weird stairs but no entrance into the walls, yet.

Finally we find an entrance into the fortress but now we are facing a second issue, finding an entrance into the church proper. We go round and round and find many entrances, all closed and locked. A bit discouraged one of our relatives has the great idea to ask the sweeper if he knows where the key is. And the key was with him, even though he saw us going round and trying all the doors he had no intention to tell us that, weird. But now the door is open and we finally can go in.

The church is quite austere, as is typical of Evangelical churches with the major attraction being the ornate altar. Otherwise we walk around for a short while and then it is time to return to the hotel for the short drive to Calnic where we will visit one more Fortified Church, this one an Unesco World Heritage Site.
