After hiking high in the Chiricahua Mountains we decide in the late afternoon to explore Fort Bowie, a relatively short trail. We hope that it will be cooler in late afternoon, not sure why, it really is probably the hottest part of the day. And we are at lower altitudes so it feels like we are cooking so we decide on only a short hike to some ruins close by and to visit the fort later.

The hike is really short and we mostly keep an eye and ear open for birds, there are surprisingly many even in 90+ degree heat. We take a few photos and enjoy but then return to the A/C of our car and return to the compound, tomorrrow it is time to return to Phoenix after our exploration of the area.
