Short stop in Cabin John Regional Park

From Virginia we swing over into Maryland with a short stop in Cabin John Regional Park to find a few caches and enjoy the beautiful fall colors. On the way we marvel at the vegetable stands on the side of the road, there are quite a few of them even so close to a large metropolitan area.

The Park itself is quite a nice hike, with some beautiful fall colors and berries along the trails we explore as we search for caches.

We do not have such impressive fall colors in Arizona except in a few specific locations and as such enjoy walking and exploring all around including looking up. In fact the top of the trees have the best color and to see it you really must look up or maybe get to the forest edge.

Which is what we do as the trail leads us to the forest edge and a great view of the mix of colors, yellow and red mostly and still some green.

The central area of the park is quite busy with people really attracted by a small train running the rounds through the park. We are more interested however in Porky the litter eater, what an interesting idea. People would use trash cans more often if all of them would be similar to Porky.

And then it is time to leave for more historical attractions, but still we take on more short walk to explore a few bright red trees, they seem non-native but still wow. And on we go north towards Pennsylvania and West Virginia two more states we intend to visit today.
