The major stop today is the Capitol Building, we are planning to walk all around it and explore it from every side and even enter it. That is if it is as easy as it seems to be from the online information, we have our doubts about it. We start from the reflecting pool enjoying to view before getting closer.
We get as close as we can to the Capitol, it is quite an impressive building in a classical style, at least in our opinion. And then we start looking for the visitor entrance and lo and behold it is as easy as described, you just pass security and then are free to roam inside.
We do just that and roam across the many infinitely long corridors looking for known names. We find a few Presidents including John F Kennedy and a few known senators before getting bored. It is eerily empty, we wonder how any business gets ever done here.
There is also a more modern section where we find Barack Obama’s former office and nearby is an interesting exhibit about the women’s fight for voting rights and then we are out again exploring the city for other major sights.
