Bar M Canyon exploration

From Foxboro Lake Dam we continue north enjoying mushrooms and flowers along the way and finding a few caches. Our next major stop is Bar M Canyon, a canyon which we heard is quite beautiful.

We find the starting point easily and descend into the canyon and below the bridge. And then we continue along the creek looking for the cache and also for the canyon, initially there is barely a hint of canyon.

And we find the canyon, it is quite beautiful and we spend some time exploring it after finding the cache before returning to the car.

There are also birds and animals around including lizards, hummingbirds and even our first Band-tailed Pigeon, really cool!

There are also cacti and lots of flowers along the way and it is quite an enjoyable walk, the canyon was a worthwhile stop.

And then it is time to search for a camping spot but unfortunately most we find are occupied. Finally we find one which is available near Calf Trick Tank, it is closer to the road than wanted but what can you do. Before sunset we explore the tank and the area a bit and it is a nice one with a few cows so we settle down to watch the sun set.

It is a beautiful sunset and then it is time to sleep. Unfortunately there are a few cars passing by including one that tries to shine its lights into our car which is annoying and a bit scary but finally around midnight the traffic dies down and we can sleep till morning when it picks up again. Not the best spot really but there was nothing else available close to our next goal, the Lava Tube nearby.
