On and around the Land of the Pioneers trail

Leaving from the hotel we go east into the National Forest to find caches and a camping spot for the night. First there are a few caches near a nice creek and a really interesting one in an arrow, it looks like Robin Hood sent us a message.

Next is the Scott Reservoir which is nice but doesn’t have that many birds so after find the caches around it we continue on towards the Land of Pioneers trail.

Here we hike for a while until we reach the Arab cabin area. Even though it is named Arab Cabin there are multiple ruins here and we are not sure which one is the actual cabin. Or maybe it was a homestead?

The more we explore the more ruins we find, and some are in relatively good condition, we really enjoy this exploration. And then unfortunately we have to return to the car as it is getting relatively late and we have to find a place to camp.

The area is beautiful with forests and meadows but unfortunately not that many empty parking spots for camping.

There are a few more ruins that we explore, mostly of lumber mills, but we are starting to get antsy as there are no good camping spots. But then we finally explore the right road and find a good spot and set up for the night and then it is time to go to sleep as tomorrow we have another long day planned.
