The majority of the trip is spent exploring Nuremberg and the surrounding area using public transportation and the trusted feet. We arrive in Nuremberg via train from Munchen and then return to the airport afterwards to continue the trip to Romania. The hotel is in the downtown area and that is what is explored mostly in the days spent here, the downtown area not the hotel. It was almost completely destroyed due to bombing in World War 2 so a lot is either reconstructed and new. Still there are some interesting and thought provoking sculptures like Ehekarussell, showing the course of marriage from dating to death and not in a flattering way.
The Central Plaza has been renovated beautifully with the Frauenkirche anchoring it from one side while the Pegnitz river is just a stone throw away with some beautiful buildings also.
There are many bridges over the central river and we enjoy our walk while also catching the starting whisper of the fad that will become quite large over the years of attaching padlocks on bridges as a symbol of everlasting love.
The most beautiful bridge is the Henkersteg bridge, a covered wooden bridge that we cannot resist exploring.
Next is Unschlitt Plaza anchored by a beautiful house that we admire for some time before moving on spending the rest of the day exploring the city and also Furth nearby.
In the morning we eat a hearthy breakfast before checking out and continue exploring Nurnberg before it is time to return to the Munchen airport.
We visit today the Imperial Castle and the surrounding area, the gardens are especially nice and there is also the historical cemetery nearby.
While we do not know any of the people buried here the graves are quite old and are interesting to look at. The nearby church is also free to enter and nice to visit as a quiet oasis during the visit.
And then after finishing the exploration it is time to return back to the airport in Munchen and catch the flight to Cluj where we will spend the remaining days of the trip.
