The beautiful Toadstools Hoodoo Trail

Last major stop today is again in Utah, we really want to visit the toadstools that we saw the day prior from Cottonwood Road. It is about a half hour drive from Page while passing abandoned trucks and houses.

The trailhead is easy enough to find and soon we are on the way to the toadstools. The day before we approached them from above, today it willl be from below.

The colors here are beautiful with the deep dark red contrasting nicely from the white of other geological strata. And then we find our first toadstool, it is a nice one but we want to see more.

It is a plain of geological wonders, there are toadstools big and small, fingers and other rock formations tha we cannot even give a name to.

The trail itself in this area is a bit eroded and we have to be careful as we make our way around and explore.

We cannot go off trail because everywhere there is cryptobiotic soil and you are not supposed to step on it as it takes a long time to regenerate.

At the end of the trail is probably the best formation, a combination of toadstools and other red rocks that we admire while having a snack. Then it is time to return to the car and to Phoenix after a beautiful weekend.
