Rimview Trail exploration in Page

We start the morning with an exploration in Page. There are a few trails here but we choose the Rimview trail which is a bit longer and we can decide how long we want to go. Almost immediately we have some nice views of the Navajo Generating Station, something that we are interesting in as we just did some research about it and its impact on the local economy.

There are many intersecting trails and sometimes it is not clear which is the official one but usually following the edge of the cliff is the best bet we are on the right trail. And it also allows for great views.

There are lots of flowers and quite varied in color and while we don’t know on the spot what they are we still enjoy smelling and watching them.

What we cannot do is hear the birds, there are a lot of planes that are taking off and landing from the airport that the trail skirts.

Even so we find a few antelope squirrels and more worrisome a possessed raven who flies upside down, quite scary.

Below us is the Colorado River, we have a nice view from multiple points on the trail and in general enjoy the hike quite a lot.

We also find caches along the way and decide that the turnaround point is at a cache that is set near an abandoned car. It is a great point to return as it is a high for the hike where we saw quite a few birds and some beautiful landscapes. Now it is time to drive to the Toadstools in Utah before returning to Phoenix later in the day.
