This Sunday we plan to explore the Saddle Mountain area, famous in geocaching circles for its old and rarely found caches. But first we have to drive through West Phoenix and construction traffic and then identify the right dirt road to get to the cache area. We start with the plains, it is a nice hike as the desert is in bloom and we can find lizards everywhere.
And then it is time to go up to find the more difficult caches which are near the peaks. It is a difficult climb but we make it and are rewarded with the cache and some great views of the nuclear plant.
We continue exploring and finding a few caches while walking the ridge as much as possible. The views are outstanding in all directions, you can see really far in the distance. And then it is getting late so we have to descend before dark and then return to Phoenix after a nice day out.
