Quartzsite and the Barefoot Imprint

When we visited Quartzsite a few weeks earlier we were impressed by the amount of rock and gem shops in town and since then we have found out there are multiple festivals going on during the colder season. So today we decide to visit again Quartzsite while exploring a few additional sites on the way there and back. We start with the historical cemetery in Phoenix that we really want to visit but is always closed, including today.

We then pass by the mining museum, also closed, and hop on the highway for the two hour drive to Quartzsite.

We start with the first Rock Show we find, it is quite impressive with many different specimens for sale.

You can explore the grounds for what seems miles with tent after tent and interesting rocks for sale including coprolites, which are basically dinosaur excrements.

We then spend some time at the Classical Auto Show, there are quite a few of them and all are interesting to explore and see.

We then finish with a second Rock Show visit exploring even more exhibits with the most impressive exhibits being the geodes. We had no idea they could become that big.

Late afternoon we leave Quartzsite to explore the surrounding area with a focus on caches and one finding the barefoot imprint that we learned about online and is marked by a cache.

With the exact coordinates the barefoot footprint is quite interesting. It really looks like a human footprint on a vertical surface but it is quite possible that in fact it is just erosion happening just in the right way to mimic a footprint. Still an interesting spot and highlight before turning around and returning to Phoenix after a varied day outside town.
