Deer on the BCT from Glorianna Trailhead

After the long weekend trip the week before today we are planning something more local. With cooler temperatures we are thinking to hike the Black Canyon Trail but first we stop to find a few caches on the way. Unfortunately there is a lot of trash but we like the alien hole that makes laser sounds whenever you throw a pebble into it.

We then drive to Glorianna Trailhead and start southwards on the Black Canyon Trail finding caches along the way.

The trail is narrow and quite enjoyable and the views are beautiful so it is a great hike as we slowly make our way south.

There are some interesting rock formations however the highlight for us are the couple mule deer watching us for a while before cantering away.

As the night falls we find a nest in a cholla, unfortunately no bird is around. We return to the car as darkness falls enjoying the great view of the planets and the silhoutte of the mountains in the falling darkness.
