For the second week in the row we decide to hike on the Black Canyon Trail (BCT) but on a different section accessed from the Bumblebee exit. Right as we exit there is lots of trash unfortunately but at least the trailhead, Glorianna TH, is clean and soon we are on our way.
This section is full of geocaches and we really enjoy our walk and the expansive views of the valley. There are SUVs that pass on the dirt road below from time to time that break the silence but otherwise we have the trail to ourselves.
Unexpectedly like a week ago we also find a dead cow on the trail. We haven’t seen one for a long time and now two in two weeks is a sign, but we are not sure what type of sign. At least the caches are all easily found.
In the evening as we return we find a dead tarantula and even more surprising another common poorwill on the trail. Two poorwills in two weeks must be a (good) hopefully sign that counteracts the two dead cows? Who knows….at least we make it back to the car safely after a beautiful hike and then it is back home to prepare for our Puerto Rico trip.
