After Dunluce Castle we have a relatively long drive, first through Northern Ireland and then through Ireland, to our accomodation for the night, the Markree Castle. Yes we are staying in a castle, something we really wanted to do at some point during the tour.
Actually we do not stay in the castle but in the stables which have been converted to a nice apartment with a couple rooms, a great place for us and our relatives.
Still we return to the castle after checking in to buy something to eat and explore the castle a bit. The food at the restaurant is quite good and worth the premium in our opinion, especially as we celebrate our successful trip till now. And then we retire for the night as we have another busy day ahead of us.
In the morning we eat from our provisions in the spacious apartment and then it is time to explore the castle grounds. We plan to explore as much as we can before checking out, how often do you stay on castle grounds?
We walk for a while through the surrounding countryside owned by the castle. It is very peaceful and we enjoy the views as well as the horses which can be quite friendly.
We then turn around and circle the castle looking for the best views. It is actually quite impressive viewed during the day and we enjoy the manicured gardens and the views until we really have to return to check out and leave.
