Weatherford Trail to Doyle Saddle

Today we have a full hiking day planned as we want to climb using the Weatherford Trail to Doyle Saddle. This is a six mile one way hike from the parking lot to the rarefied heights of the highest mountain in Arizona. It is a relatively gentle climb with some beautiful sections through wildflowers and some great views especially as we get higher up.

You can see some weird things as you climb including what seems to be school bus lost in the forest far away from any road…weird. And of course you cannot escape the rain during the monsoon season, fortunately it is only a quick shower.

Descending we take our time to enjoy the views and the great weather, at this altitude finally you can say it is cold?! Maybe colder but still a lot better than in Phoenix. After arriving at our car it is time to drive to the Mogollon Rim where we camp for the night.
