One of the areas we like is around Laughlin which has many different attractions so this long weekend this is where we decide to go. We stop on the way to it and back in Arizona to visit a few abandoned settlements and we also explore Hart Ghost town in California during our full day in the Laughlin area. It is a great trip and we are looking forward to exploring a few more attractions next time while in the area.

Click on the Links below or Markers on the map above to go directly to a specific part of our trip and follow our long weekend around Laughlin.

  • Shiprock area, a mysterious place to be
The area near Shiprock is an interesting area to explore with lots of mining remains and some great views
  • Hart Ghost Town
Hart was a short lived gold mining town that existed between 1908 and 1915. Few ruins remain from those times.
  • Avi Casino and Resort, our accomodation for the trip
Avi is a casino on Indian land that is relatively cheap to stay at and has a great gem show in January
  • Oatman, the burro town
Oatman is a small touristic western town with the main attraction being the burros (donkeys) wandering the main street.
  • Signal Ghost Town, a worthy detour
Signal jumped from nothing during the silver hunt in 1877 and in the next 3 years the town reached 800 citizens. 10 years after with silver was gone it started its long decline till in 1932 the post office was discontinued and it became a ghost town.
