On the second day of our trip we are planning to visit Hart Ghost Town in California by following a geocaching power trail. The trail consists in tens if not hundreds of caches along the road and even though we do not plan to stop for all we stop for a few to enjoy the beautiful Joshua tree forest along the way.
The road itself is quite beautiful and as we stop often we have lots of chances to enjoy walking along it for short distances.
As we approach Hart the views become even more scenic, now we stop more to take photos than to find caches.
Hart itself has a few ruins but not much is left. We explore the machinery left at the site, a lonely fireplace and then after eating a very late lunch start on our return trip.
As beautiful the way to Hart has been the return is quite spectacular due to a beautiful sunset in the desert. It is quite surprising how beautiful the sunset can be in this area and we stop a few times just to enjoy it.
After the sun sets there are a few moments where the view is magical, it feels like we are in an alternate dimension where the sun is much redder than it ever could be here on Earth. And then it gets dark, the coyotes start howling and it is time for us to return to Laughlin for the night.
